Outside Tour

Back Back    |    Forward Forward

You may wish to walk the path that meanders along Shitike Creek. Along the path, you will pass under towering cottonwood trees (which are the oldest in the state), enjoy wild roses, and you may startle a covey of our resident quail. Sometimes, the creek flows quietly; however, in the spring, its rapids roar and froth, swollen with melting snow from nearby mountains.

Stop for a moment and examine the boulders next to the path. If you look closely, you can find fossils embedded in them.

Along another path, you will find a stately grandmother apple tree in the center of our storytelling circle. Trail markers name plants and natural features in the three languages of Warm Springs.
